1.     “I can’t even get up from the couch.  How can I run around the block?”

2.     “I have gout how can I do a triathlon”

3.     “I have arthritis in both my kness, a recurring dislocated shoulder that keeps popping out, and anyway I can’t swim”

4.     “I have tendonitis in both shoulders, high blood pressure and the doctor has warned me against exercise.  Swimming’s ok she says.  But I can’t swim.”

5.     “I’m 127 kg (280 lbs/20 stone).  I’m too fat to do anything.”

Been there done that.

You can do it.  All it takes is one baby step, followed by another, and you are on your way to fitness, and immortality.  You won’t be dying the death of a drunken bum, but the life of a fit buff athlete. 

Answers: Drop the excuses; crawl off the couch and go for a walk.  You are on your way.  

Doctors are like lawyers they give you only the printed facts they are supposed to.  If your doctor tells you that you can’t exercise change your doctor.  Find a sports medicine doctor or at least one who knows that they exist.  A sports medicine doctor attacks your problem from a different angle.  He will diagnose your problems with a view to achieve your sporting ambitions, not to stifle them.

Which one is the old-timer?  No trophy’s for the winner.
